about me

Originally from the Netherlands, I currently live in Los Angeles, California, together with my husband, dog and two cats. If I’m not in the studio painting or studying art, chances are you’ll find me in a museum or zoo (to draw of course!)

In 2012, I started drawing and visited the zoo with my sketchbook every moment I could. When I started painting with oil paints in 2020, I had found my medium! The buttery texture is so nice to work with. Since 2021, I have been studying art at New Masters Academy, to learn from both old masters and contemporary ones. Every artwork I create is a new opportunity for growth and learning.

My artwork focuses primarily on animals and nature. I have always loved animals and felt a deep connection to them. Every animal has its own character, feelings and emotions. I am convinced it exists, simply by observing my own cats and dog. In my paintings, I try to bring my observations about the character of the animal into the painting, using anatomy, gesture and loose brushstrokes.

Feel free to contact me for inquiries, commissions, or to just say hi!
